DWARF BLACK MULBERRY
morus nigra 'dwarf everbearing' 140mm pot
Dwarf fruiting mulberry tree with slightly pendulous branches and beautiful glossy, green foliage that is toothed, veined and has downy undersides.
Small, fragrant, white flowers appear in spring followed in late spring/summer by large quantities of good sized reddish/purple black mulberries that are sweet, juicy and delicious.
Self pollinating. Deciduous. Grows 2 - 4m H - can be pruned after fruiting to keep to desired height from 2m up - this will also promote multiple cropping through summer.
Plant in full sun - part shade in free draining neutral soil (6.6-7.3pH). Suitable to be grown in the garden as a feature tree, as hedging or in large pots, .
Don't pick the fruit until it is ripe as it will not ripen any further when off the tree. Unlike other fruit trees whose fruit ripens all at once (relatively), the fruit of a mulberry tree ripens over an extended period meaning you won't have a huge glut of fruit to deal with all at once.
Perfect when eaten fresh, they are also ideal to use in jams, pies and wines.
